Staff Accountant /Job Index

Basic Job Functions:
- The Staff Accountant is responsible for prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements and reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards of the company. Also responsible for Payroll functions including principles, practices procedure, and initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Reviews submitted invoices to determine appropriate expense account code and proper level of authorization.
- Elevates unusual activity to proper management.
- Obtain, document and maintain invoice approvals.
- Coordinates the collection and maintenance of the W-9 Tax Form from new vendors.
- Coordinates the annual 1099 tax form preparation, mailings and corrections.
- Prepare financial reports, checks and mailings of financial documents.
- Identifies and documents transactions subject to Use Tax for proper filing.
- Maintain organized accounts payable files to support items paid and to aid in the timely retrieval of information when research is requested.
- Prepares analysis of accounts, as required.
- Assists with special projects, as necessary.
- Compiles payroll data, computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
- Prepares and issues paychecks.
- Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Records and reconciles payments for payroll taxes, 401k funding, payroll and bank fees.
- Supports accounting manager in review resolution of audit concerns for China-Shanghai facility.
Knowledge & Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MINX, Fourth Shift Accounting Software; Internet software; ADP Payroll System, Report Smith, Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software; familiarity with additional software programs is valued. Understanding Accounting standard-GAAP is essential. Should have solid interpersonal and strong communication, customer service and organizational skills.
Education/Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field. 3 - 5 years manufacturing accounting experience required. Familiarity with Federal and California payroll regulations is essential. Ability to read, speak, and write Mandarin Chinese is preferred.
